Environmental Strategy, Policy, and Standards Development:

Environmental Impact Assessment Oversight:

  • Lead and oversee the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process for all projects.
  • Establish guidelines and protocols for conducting EIAs.
  • Streamline the EIA process and ensure consistency in decision-making.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to monitor EIA implementation.

Environmental Data and Modelling:

  • Establish environmental baselines and identify data gaps.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring programs.
  • Coordinate data collection efforts and utilize advanced modeling techniques.
  • Ensure periodic monitoring and assessment of environmental indicators.

Scientific Research and Collaboration:

  • Lead scientific research studies to advance understanding of environmental processes.
  • Foster collaboration with research institutions and scientific experts.
  • Conduct joint research projects and share data and findings.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Coordinate the publication of periodic State of the Environment reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy and accessibility of environmental information.
  • Communicate complex environmental concepts to diverse audiences.

Department Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Prepare strategic and operational plans for the department.
  • Monitor and improve administrative processes.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.

Permitting and Compliance Department

Environmental Monitoring:

  • Manage the procurement, installation, and operations of environmental monitoring stations.
  • Oversee field workers responsible for collecting environmental data and ensure accurate and timely data collection.
  • Coordinate with other departments for data collection planning and sharing.

Environmental Inspection:

  • Design and execute risk-based inspection programs in coordination with the Environment Management Department to monitor compliance with regulations.
  • Utilize innovative technologies for inspection and improve predictive modeling capabilities.

Environmental Services (Licensing and NOCs):

  • Streamline licensing procedures and coordinate with Environment Management Department to conduct environmental impact assessments for complex projects.

Compliance Management:

  • Proactively monitor compliance, investigate violations, and enforce environmental regulations.
  • Manage violations and coordinate with legal advisors and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on compliance trends and enforcement activities.

Performance Management and Improvement:

  • Develop and implement performance metrics and KPIs to track service delivery performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and propose service improvement recommendations.
  • Oversee digitization efforts and system integration to improve service quality and efficiency.

Customer Service:

  • Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders, government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Ensure smooth customer service for inquiries, complaints, and feedback.
  • Implement customer feedback mechanism to identify areas for service improvement and innovation.

Department Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Prepare strategic and operational plans for the department.

Diversity Conservation Department

Natural Reserves Management:

  • Develop and implement strategies for the sustainable management and conservation of natural reserves and protected areas.
  • Conduct regular assessments of reserve health and biodiversity, identifying threats and implementing measures for mitigation.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to enforce regulations and guidelines for the protection of natural reserves and ecosystems.
  • Engage with local communities, indigenous groups, and other stakeholders to promote awareness and involvement in natural reserve management and biodiversity conservation efforts.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and communications materials to communicate departmental activities, achievements, and challenges to internal and external stakeholders.

Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Development:

  • Implement projects and initiatives aimed at conserving and enhancing biodiversity within natural reserves and protected areas.
  • Conduct research and monitoring activities to assess biodiversity levels and identify conservation priorities.
  • Collaborate with scientific institutions and research organizations to develop innovative approaches for biodiversity conservation.
  • Plan and execute projects focused on the restoration and enhancement of ecosystems within natural reserves and protected areas.
  • Implement habitat restoration initiatives, including reforestation, wetland rehabilitation, and marine conservation efforts.
  • Monitor the progress and impact of ecosystem development projects, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize outcomes.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of conservation projects, biodiversity assessments, and ecosystem development initiatives

Department Administrative Responsibilities:

Admin Section – Including Fishing Ports Administration

General Administrative Services

  • Providing facility services by ensuring security and safety conditions, maintenance, and other specialized tasks at the Authority’s headquarters
  • Providing the Authority’s car cleaning service
  • Transferring internal correspondence between departments and divisions and external correspondence to the competent authorities.
  • Transporting the required supplies to and from the Authority’s headquarters, the emirate’s ports, and Khor Muzahimi Reserve
  • Maintaining maintenance and cleaning of the kitchen and all tools, materials and equipment inside the kitchen
  • Contributing to providing the Authority’s needs related to hospitality, stationery, etc.
  • Moving the mobile station to its designated locations.
  • Inspects the vehicle, maintains its cleanliness and maintenance, and informs the vehicle official of any malfunctions in accordance with the approved vehicle maintenance procedure.
  • Continuous improvement in the processes, procedures and services of the organizational unit, measuring their impact on the performance of the unit and the department, and submitting improvement proposals. General tasks

IT Support

Technology Strategy and Planning

  • Develop a technology strategy and plans aligned with the EPDA’s mission.
  • Identify areas for technological transformation and assess technology needs in alignment with EGA
  • Ensure that technology initiatives align with EPDA’s priorities
  • Establish KPIs to measure the impact and progress of technology efforts in alignment with EGA
  • Continuously monitor the EPDA’s technology performance against metrics and use data-driven insights to drive innovation and change.

Application Development and Maintenance

  • Work closely with EGA to oversee the software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality applications and solutions.
  • Ensure that IT projects are delivered by EGA, or external vendors are accordance with the defined technical and functional specifications, ensuring optimal value is realized

Stakeholder Engagement and Management

  • Foster collaboration and alignment across departments to ensure seamless and unified technology delivery with a customer-centric approach.
  • Identify key internal and external stakeholders and build strong relationships to integrate technology seamlessly.
  • Monitor performance from the perspective of technology and work with key stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.

Vendor and Partner Management

  • Work closely with EGA to manage IT contractors and service level agreements to ensure service quality and cost standards are met.

Reporting and Communication

  • Provide monthly IT metrics and performance/status reports to ensure visibility of the status to the wider organization.
  • Cascade and communicate technology objectives and performance metrics to internal departments and external partners.
  • Oversee the technology feedback and concerns from management, ensuring stakeholders can easily submit and track their feedback

Awareness, Outreach & Communications Section

Environmental Awareness Programs:

  • Develop and implement the Environmental Awareness Strategy for the Emirate.
  • Oversee annual environmental awareness surveys and behavior tracking.
  • Launch outreach campaigns, educational initiatives, and community events.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments for the implementation of awareness programs.

Civic Engagement and Volunteering Programs:

  • Engage with local communities and grassroots organizations to foster environmental stewardship.
  • Coordinate volunteering programs and community engagement opportunities.
  • Provide training, support, and recognition to volunteers.

Partnerships and Outreach Programs:

  • Cultivate partnerships with private sector companies, NGOs, and government entities.
  • Lead efforts to secure funding, grants, and sponsorships for environmental projects.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with academic institutions and research organizations.

Corporate Communication, Public Relations, and Events:

  • Develop and implement corporate communication strategies to enhance EPDA’s visibility.
  • Produce compelling content for various communication channels.
  • Plan and participate in global, regional, and local environmental events.
