Barakah nuclear reactor enhances environmental sustainability

Dr. Saif Mohamed Al Ghais, Director General of the Environmental Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al-Khaimah said that operating the Barakah nuclear reactor plant for peaceful uses in power generation enhances environmental sustainability in the UAE and the region and will contribute to reducing the emission of millions of tons of greenhouse gases and thus reducing global warming.

He added that the operation of nuclear reactor plants does not produce any pollutants in the air and does not need large areas, such as those required by solar energy generation cells, and does not produce any waste like the ones produced by conventional electric power plants.

On this occasion, Dr. Al-Ghais raised his highest congratulations and blessings to the wise leadership headed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State "may God protect him" and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister, "may God bless him" and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and their brothers, Your Highness, rulers of the Emirates and its people, on the occasion of this historic achievement.
