Al Ghais explained that, in order to achieve the concept of environmental sustainability and the UAE Vision 2021, EPDA succeeded in instilling the concept of conservation of the environment in a large number of the public through many initiatives, lectures and seminars organized by the EPDA to introduce this concept, including the environmental carnival launched by the Department to highlight the efforts of the UAE to preserve the environment. EPDA works in enhancing the participation of the social sectors in environmental monitoring and awareness, and sustainability of fisheries, livestock and agriculture. As well as the protection of biodiversity and natural habitats, and protection and management of groundwater, where EPDA prevented the drilling of groundwater wells in all areas of Ras Al Khaimah. EPDA also obliged all industrial facilities to install meters on existing wells, which contributed to the decline in the use of this water.

EPDA also launched "feminine mentoring for sustainable environment" initiative, and environment protection teams for students which is project in partnership with the Ministry of Education, and the environmental carnival, as well as "one million and one tree" initiative, and school environmental innovation competition, in additon to two mobile apps which are Estidama and Albayraq, and the drone project for environmental surveys.
Al Ghais pointed out that EPDA, launched "feminine mentoring", aimed at the participation of women in the process of environmental inspection in Ras Al Khaimah, It also launched the Student Environmental Protection Teams project, which relies on the transfer of environmental awareness to schools, and then to various segments of the community, through the inculcation of the environmental concept among young people. EPDA provides technical support to the student environmentalists through free training courses at the school premises. To date, 469 students and teachers in 8 schools have been lectured.
