Ras Al Khaimah Environment honors the winners of the global competition "Feminine Monitoring for Sustainable Environment"

The Environmental Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah honored the winners of the global competition "Feminine Monitoring for Sustainable Environment" that aims to keep pace with global trends in the field of women's empowerment and demonstrate their abilities in giving and applying best practices in the field of the environment and achieve food security and raise the level of awareness and environmental knowledge and the degree of familiarity and commitment to international agreements Legislation related to environmental protection and the sustainability of its resources among different societies and cultures.

This came during the ceremony attended by Sheikha Amna bint Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Her Excellency Maryam bint Muhammad Saeed Hareb Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Food Security and a number of women leaders and pioneers of environmental work.

The award promotes volunteering in environmental work in addition to encouraging institutions and work teams to excel in research and innovation to provide solutions to environmental issues and challenges and consolidate the concept of sustainability, appreciation and encouragement of prominent and pioneering contributions of women in the field of preserving the environment and promoting environmental sustainability.

Dr. Saif Muhammad Al-Ghais, Director General of the Environmental Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al-Khaimah said that the initiative and the award “Feminine Monitoring for Sustainable Environment” and other innovative environmental initiatives launched by EPDA and achieved leadership centers both at the local and global levels were thanks to the keenness of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah to protect the environment and the sustainability of its resources in line with the orientations of the state and in connection with the national agenda for the UAE vision 2021 within the axis of a sustainable environment and integrated infrastructure, and thanks to the initiative's patronage of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah Sheikha Na girl Juma Al Majid. "

The total number of posts fulfilling the conditions reached 24, and 14 winning entries were honored in the various special categories in the award, as Umm Al-Arab School for Primay and Secondary Education from Abu Dhabi won first place in the category of environmentally distinguished institution. Bahrain Women’s Society for Human Development ranked first in the category of collective environmental work. Within the category of individual environmental work, Rasha Ziauddin Saleh of the State of Palestine won first place. Ajman Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of People of Determination and Al-Hudaibah Secondary School for Girls got the first place equally in the category of volunteer environmental determination group of people.

As for the category of best research in the environmental field, Dr. Khawla Abdullah Al-Kaabi from Uniter Arab Emirates University got first place, as the total number of nationalities participating in the award and initiative reached 14 nationalities from various countries of the world In addition to that the number of volunteers in the initiative reached 290 volunteers and the initiative achieved 913 volunteer hours, with 155 supervisory and awareness visits to different sectors of society, such as health clubs, nurseries, restaurants, homes, beauty centers and other sectors.
