5 thousand Ghaf trees for individuals and institutions in Ras Al Khaimah

During the past year, the Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah distributed more than 5,000 Ghaf trees to various segments of society, institutions and entities in the emirate.

This initiative, which is provided by the environment free of charge to all segments and entities, is intended to enhance the diversity of natural resources in the emirate, by increasing the green area in various regions, and by involving society in all its segments and institutions in the sustainability of the environmental aspect.

Dr. Saif Al-Ghais, Director General of the Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, told the «Union»: During the past year, the authority distributed more than 5,000 Ghaf trees to all segments of society and to different institutions, which sent a request to the Authority in its desire to obtain these important species. From Ghaf trees in different numbers, to be cultivated in various locations.

He stated that the authority provides these trees free of charge through the smart Estidama application, which provides a number of different services to the authority, for the public, including submitting an application to obtain different types of local trees, including Ghaf trees, as the authority seeks to work on providing needs and requirements The applicant is applying for those trees and presenting them to be cultivated, and contributing to the expansion of the green area for these types of trees that contain many environmental benefits.

He pointed out that the authority distributed this number of trees, divided by 2865 Ghaf trees for industrial establishments and 738 trees for educational institutions from the schools category, and federal and local government agencies got 300 trees, while community members got 591 trees and hotels received 750 trees.

Al-Ghais stressed that this service provided by the authority also comes within the endeavors to achieve the vision of the UAE in being a sustainable country, as well as anticipating the future, increasing community awareness, raising the level of environmental awareness, and promoting a culture of interest in the aspect of tree planting, specifically Ghaf, which is one of the most important types of trees. Which contribute to achieving an ecological balance and recognizing its many benefits.
