EPDA in field visits to factories

The Director General of the Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, Dr. Saif Mohammad Al-Ghais conducted field inspection visits to cement factories and crushers in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the Khor Khuwair area, which aim to monitor environmental conditions and find out the latest developments to support the economic process in the emirate and preserve the environment, he has also verified the readiness of factories to achieve carbon neutrality according to the directions of the United Arab Emirates.

Among the visit was Ras Al Khaimah Cement Company, Gulf Cement Company, Ras Al Khaimah Company for the Manufacture of White Cement and Construction Materials, Steven Rock Company, and Union Cement Company. Dr. Saif was also keen to learn about the environmental conditions in the region, and to provide support the facilities in facing environmental obstacles and problems, in order to determine the causes of complaints in the region, and to identify actions taken, and urgent and sustainable solutions.

Al-Ghais said, “We always strive to strengthen communication with the industrial sector, to find out about the challenges that face them, to seek assistance in solving them, and to listen to their ideas and proposals to achieve the benefit of everyone, whether from the owners of factories or residents of their neighboring areas.”

“The industrial sector in the emirate has achieved an outstanding level, and most factories follow best practices in reducing energy consumption and reducing waste, and also reducing the harmful impact on the environment” Al-Ghais added.

“We strive for the factories in the emirate to have high transparency in disclosing emissions and air quality data in the scope and vicinity of the factory.” Al-Ghais added.
