EPDA has obliged its registered desalination companies to replace the plastic tanks of existing water trucks with stainless steel; for it being more suitable for water transportation is the best practice in developed countries.
Dr. Saif Al Ghais, Director General of EPDA, explained that EPDA is in its endeavor to sustain the protection of natural resources in Ras Al Khaimah, and to maintain the safety of water produced by desalination companies in it. EPDA obliged these companies to adjust their status in the transport sector for human consumption by using stainless steel tanks mounted on vehicles.
“EPDA will not renew the environmental license of these companies until the company has confirmed the use of the new tanks.” Dr. Al Ghais said.
He also pointed to the coordination between EPDA and the Traffic Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police to harmonize these vehicles with the regulations and systems in the country and obtaining environmental license for this type of vehicle.
