«Feminine Mentoring» records 75 environmental violations in fish markets in Ras Al Khaimah

The initiative of «Feminine Mentoring» launched by the Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, which involves the participation of community women to control environmental requirements in fish markets, they recorded 75 violations. Yesterday, the initiative launched the second phase of the field tours that targeted houses in various areas of Ras Al Khaimah by visiting the participating women to introduce the environmental requirements and measure the level of air pollution.
Dr. Saif Mohammed Al Ghais, Executive Director of the Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, said: " Feminine Mentoring for sustainable environment initiative was launched in the field, targeting the first phase of fish markets and supermarkets, through raising awareness among employees of the most important environmental requirements and warning against violations during the launch of surprise inspection campaigns.''
"the initiative was able during the inspection campaigns carried out during the last period to free 75 different environmental violations, including the failure to put crushed ice on fish and non-compliance with the minimum size of fish." Al Ghais said.
"the initiative was launched yesterday to implement field visits to homes in some areas of Ras Al Khaimah, and has received positive reactions from various sectors of society and opinion leaders." Al Ghais added.
The initiative included the participation of 86 volunteers from different sectors of society, attributed to 14 government and social organizations, other than housewives, by registering and implementing the Feminine Mentoring for Sustainable Environment Initiative. This initiative comes within the framework of the Authority's efforts to strengthen the national agenda of the UAE Vision 2021 and the Government of Ras Al Khaimah Strategy 2018-2030, and to strengthen its institutional capacity, For the first time in the world, a government agency invites women in various categories, including housewives and government employees in the federal and local government sectors, educational leaders, teachers, students and volunteers in associations, clubs, social centers and workers in assistive professions with media interest to play a supervisory role on fish markets and restaurants. As well as providing a service to measure air quality and water quality reservoirs in restaurants, homes, government institutions, educational and coastal and beach control.
