EPDA Detect Sheri and Safi Fish Forbidden To Catch

The Executive Director of the Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, Dr. Saif Al Ghais, said that the inspectors seized a quantity of Safi and Sheri fish temporarily banned from fishing in a commercial store, in violation of the decision of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to ban the fishing, sale, handling and import of Safi and Sheri fish in markets during March and April.
Al Ghais explained that the shop owner told the inspectors that he got the fish from people he did not know. Where EPDA confiscated the amount of fish and violated the shop in proportion to violations of the decision to ban fishing. He added that EPDA distrbute its inspectors daily during the morning and evening periods in various ports and places of landing fishing boats, fish markets and shops.To ensure compliance with the decision to ban fishing and sale of Safi and Sheri fish.
Al Ghais pointed out that EPDA monitored a full commitment by the fishermen in the emirate to the decision of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to ban Safi and Sheri fishing. No fisherman was found to be in breach of the resolution. He explained that the commitment of fishermen contributes to the control of markets and shops in the Emirate and the implementation of the ministerial decision.
He pointed out that the Authority seized last year 15 fishermen and vendors in the emirate's markets in possession of a quantity of fish is not allowed to catch and sell because it is a small size fish without the limit allowed to catch and sell. Some fishermen have been caught practicing fishing in prohibited places in the emirate dedicated to the development of fisheries. He pointed out that the non-compliant fishermen were violated and obliged to sign a pledge not to repeat the violation and abide by the environmental standards in the Emirate. He continued that the Authority has recently lowered more than 600 industrial caves in various marine areas of the Emirate to develop fish stocks and increase the wealth of fish from various local fish.
